statute(s) of limitation(s) : A statute of limitation is one which provides that no English Court shall entertain proceedings for the enforcement of certain rights if such proceedings were set on foot after the lapse of a definite period of time, reckoned as a rule from the date of the violation of the right – JBS. A statute establishing a time limit for suing or for prosecuting a crime, based on the date when the claim accrues (usu when the injury occurs); the purpose of such a statute is to require diligent prosecution of known claims, thereby providing finality and predictability in legal affairs and ensuring that claims will be resolved while evidence is reasonably available and fresh.
